The Sahel: Pastoralism, Conflict and the Environment

With special thanks to The Lord Speaker, Rt Hon Baroness Hayman, who kindly permitted us to use her apartment for our event back in April.  Lord and Lady Bingham of Cornhill were our generous hosts.

We were thrilled to have such experienced academics, Dr Jeremy Swift and Dr Sara Pantuliano, talk on the current threats and opportunities facing Sahelian pastoralists, including the escalating conflict in Darfur.  SOS Sahel UK is committed to working with pastoralists as they face new challenges and to supporting communities to prevent such situations as Darfur arising in other areas of Sudan.
