Sahel ECO,
Mali
Sahel ECO is a Malian
NGO founded in 2004 by the transformation of SOS Sahel
UK’s country programme into an independent national
body. Its mission is to work with the people of Mali and
neighbouring countries to improve their living
conditions through better management of their
environment.
Sahel ECO
works at four levels:
-
With
agricultural and pastoral communities in the Mopti and
Ségou regions, to help them develop and strengthen
strategies which result in sustainable improvements to
their livelihoods.
-
With
elected local governments and civil society
organisations to enable them to represent and defend
more effectively the specific interests of communities
living in arid and semi-arid zones.
-
With state
services, donors and other development organisations at
country level to support the development and
effective application of pro-poor policy and practice.
-
With
development organisations and research institutions in
West Africa and internationally, to inform and
influence debates on development policy and practice,
particularly in arid and semi-arid zones.
