African Christmas Concert, Oxford
Christ Church Cathedral, 14 December 2007

We are delighted to say that the concert was a resounding success, which had members of the audience dancing by the end and even taking to the stage!  Thank you to those who attended on the night and to the many people whose valuable advice and voluntary time made the evening possible.

“…thanks to everyone at Sahel UK in Oxford for putting on such a great event An African Christmas at Christchurch Cathedral with Jali Fily Cissokho, Juldeh Camara and Yiri Baa.  I couldn't believe I ended up on stage dancing with shakers, Christine and Margaret Sentamu, a wonderful night that will stay in my memories for a long long time.”  Jill Turner, Gondwana Sound www.myspace.com/gondwanasound

“Thank you very much for a wonderful concert. It was funny to listen in a cathedral I thought I was in a down town bar with an earth floor drinking star beer, but they did play beautifully […]. After the interval I walked round and listened from different parts of the church. The audience seemed to be very engaged and quite mixed. Well done […].  I thought that Mrs Sentamu pitched her address at just the right blend of technical fund raising detail and Christian Christmas thought.”  Bill Howard, SOS Sahel UK Trustee

“Firstly thank you again to all concerned for my ticket and for such a wonderful concert!  We thought at first we were somewhat mad to come all the way from London - but I am so glad we did. It was so uplifting and such lovely music.” Debbie Golt, African Essence/Resonance FM
